Day at the Aquarium

.....

Those of us who flew to Osaka yesterday (that is, everybody except Joel, PL, & Tess' husband Brian) had a day off today, so we all took the train over to the Aquarium. Some of us had been there before, but I hadn't & I like to visit aquariums. I've been to the ones in Baltimore, Chicago, Newport (Kentucky), and of course Monterey Bay.

The Osaka Aquarium has a HUGE tank in the middle of the 8-floor building and you descend a series of ramps which surround the tank, so you get to see the denizens at various levels and from various angles.

After the journey around the big tank, they have the "Japan Deep" tank which features the Japanese Spider crab, the largest crab species known. It's really shocking to round the corner and BAM! there are these giant crabs!

I got some video of them in action. The video is NOT slow-motion; it's real-time.

Enjoy!
